First off, thanks to everyone for the compliments about my tattoo!! I love it so much, and I’m glad other people think it looks as good as I think it does.
On a completely different subject, this blog is absolutely awesome. Original, and weirdly interesting. Also it kinda makes me want to buy Sims 3 which is weird because–though I used to be a huge Sims fan–when I’ve recently tried to go back and play I’ve been unbeeearably bored. But yeah. Above blog is the story of homeless Sims. It’s funny and kinda insightful. Read it.
Also the new Alice movie by Tim Burton looks gorgeous and I can’t believe I hadn’t heard about it until yesterday. (Thanks Noelle!)
Oh, and I really want this book, but it’s all hardcover and expensive and stuff.
Supposed to be a really cool take on the whole vampire-apocalypse deal. Always a favorite with me! Good thing I have tons of other vampire- and non-vampire-related books to read between now and when it comes out in paperback.
In other news…
It was my first day of work today at the Buffalo News! And, not surprisingly, I didn’t really do much except fill out forms and get acclimated to the general environment. The office is very warm (emotionally, that is) and especially the features area (desk? technically?), which is where I work, is very colorful and personalized. And cluttered. In a good way.
I get my own desk AND phone extension (and e-mail address, of course), and I’ve already been assigned two stories, which I’ll update about as I actually get to work on them. Kinda sparingly though because I don’t want this blog to become The Story of Elizabeth’s Clips. That wouldn’t be very interesting at all. Not that this is particularly interesting as is. Oh well!
And on that note, bed! Hopefully tomorrow will be more exciting and I will have some thrilling stories for you.

Congrats on your new job!!! Writing for a newspaper would be an amazing job, I’m editor for the newsletter at my school and its the only thing I’m going to miss. I’m starting to think it was my true calling.
I’ve really been wanting to try out Sims 3, I loved Sims 2, yeah it does tend to get boring when you know you could be doing better things.
That’s funny that we both did vampire posts on the same day
Yeah, that Alice movie looks so cooool!!! I can’t believe I didn’t know about it either! I absolutely love Lewis Carroll everything. I used to play this game “American McGee’s Alice” on windows 98, but then it wouldn’t work on xp so I didn’t play it for years and years, and now I hear it works on Vista again so I might go install it in anticipation for this movie, lol!
I can’t believe you’re at Buffalo News – my boyfriend is on their website everyday. He reads some of it aloud, which is really annoying in an old-man kind of way, but now that I know you’ll be writing some stuff I will keep my ears open
Hahaha thanks for sharing that blog about Alice & Kev! I kinda have a soft spot for blogs about digital adventures in Second Life or The Sims. I used to be a big The Sims fan too. I used to copy my family over to the sims, but sitting alone behind my PC not being able to share my builds was hard. My mom sometimes looked over my shoulder and said: “Honey, I don’t have a great body like that” – oooops! And my brother got mad because I made him a police officer *le sigh* So I don’t think I will buy The Sims 3, but reading blogs like the one of Alice and Kev sure makes it tempting to go out and buy the game.
Ooohhh ‘The Strain’ looks very interesting! Hmm maybe I can pick it up at my local library. My bookshelves are getting too crowded. I love books, but they eat so much space *gahhhh*
Congrats on getting that job at Buffalo News! Goodluck with the stories
I want that book to!! I adore del Toro!! But i’m with you, I’d rather have it in paperback, when it is easier to carry around and more importantly, cheaper.
Excellent news on the new job, good luck with your first stories!
Congrats on getting the job! I’ve always wanted to get a job where I had a cubicle.. I don’t know why! Maybe because its the thought of designing another place of my own
OHH I LOVE VAMPIRES! Before I read I thought you were another one of those Twilight fans but then I noticed you’re not (THANK GOD!) I’m sorry but I really don’t like Twilight. It takes the coolness and sexyness of vampires. Speaking of books, have you ever read the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton?? Its a good series! It has everything that a vampire should be.
OMFG. I LOVE Alice and Kev. That blog is so damn entertaining. I totally recommend buying the Sims 3–I had the same problem with boredom. I’d make a character and immediately lose interest because it was all the same. However, you can do anything in the Sims 3. The sim I’m playing right now wants to be an astronaut. All of the sims are freakishly human, and it makes for some much better game play.
I love the tattoo by the way… I feel like so much less of a nerd, lol.
