The most ridiculous week of my life, plus some awards!

Believe it or not, part of the reason I haven’t blogged in so long I actually am not allowed to talk about at the moment for legal reasons. (It has to do with my newspaper…) But suffice it to say, my life has been absolutely consumed since last weekend by psychiatric quantities of headache-causing drama. :help: Thankfully, it all seems to be wrapping up about now, so I can get back to the rest of my life.

On a sad note, on the same day that all this craziness was coming to a peak, Madame Mirabelle, my wonderful frog, died. Nothing really to say on that subject, but I’m really sad about it, even though I only had her for a few weeks.

Gonna talk about other things though, that are less depressing… Last weekend, I went to Boston and Maine with Tom and his family for his cousin’s wedding. It was a wonderful break from my routine, and a lovely trip. Tom’s parents have an adorable house on a lake up there, and it was just cold enough to really feel like a New England fall.

Oh, and we went to Tom’s grandparents’ house, where there are drawings on the wall that he did as a child. :spin: SO CUTE!!!

Most importantly, now that the weather is all autumny and stuff, pumpkin pie is in season again! I’ve been eating as much pumpkin pie as I can without gaining back the 14 pounds I’ve lost since my epic summer weight gain.

Helping me to accomplish this goal is the greenmarket next to Columbia, which has a stand that sells these:
Tiny pumpkin pie is the best of both worlds!

FIRST OF ALL, how adorable is that??? Anything that tiny is cute. Second, yay I can eat a whole delicious pumpkin pie without… you know, eating a whole pumpkin pie. Fantastic. Best discovery ever.

And here’s your newest chance to tell me you’re sick of seeing my drawings from drawing class, but I actually ended up really liking today’s project, so I’m going to include it here.

The assignment was a mixed-media collage/drawing/India ink situation, and for once, I love how mine turned out:
Cut-out-y

:) The face is made of print-outs from various images from FFFFound, and the girl on the right (I pasted her on the paper, then cut out the whole thing, then pasted the whole thing back on) is an image of a sculpture of a girl holding a scissors, which I thought was apt.

And on that note, onto more bloggy things!

Beautiful & Gorgeous Blogger Award

Alice from onlyanne.com has generously awarded me a Beautiful & Gorgeous Blogger Award (Awww thank youuu!!!), which requires me to list 7 things I think may be interesting to y’all, and then pass the award to 7 blogs. Lists after the jump!

Seven (Possibly) Interesting Things

  1. 1. I’m rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets right now–but on audiobook. And even though I’ve read it like a gazillion times (though this is the first time I’ve listened to it), parts of it still make me laugh out loud.
  2. 2. I have yet to see a vampire movie that I really like, even though I love multiple vampire TV shows, books, etc.
  3. 3. When I was in high school, if I got a cut/scrape that I thought might turn into a cool scar, I would try to keep it from healing quickly.
  4. 4. I used to hate animals–until I got a dog. Now I love them.
  5. 5. On a similar note, when I was a baby my family actually had a dog, but we had to give her back because she kept knocking me over.
  6. 6. When I was three years old, I was at the birthday party of a very elderly member of my extended family. After awhile, a few old ladies approached my mom and said: “Your daughter Alice is lovely, but she’s awfully small for an eight-year-old!” Apparently, I had been going around saying, “My name is Alice and I’m eight years old.”
  7. 7. I got a PlayStation 2 for my Bat Mitzvah (in 2001). It still works, and it’s a reminder to me that while the other girls asked for jewelry, I asked for a game console. :woot:

OMG, some of your interesting facts had me in stitches. I personally loved #6. I was a gigantic child and people often thought I was 6 or 7 when I was three. Quite the opposite! Also, I <3 you for #7. I'm exactly like that!

And thanks for making me one of your choices for the beautiful & gorgeous bloggers. So awesome! <3

  2. Morgan says:

Aw, thank you!!! :) You are a well-deserving recipient of this award and I appreciate you passing it along to me.

I think that could possibly be the best reason to not be allowed to talk– ever– due to legal reasons. It makes it sound so secretive and mysterious. My reason is that I can’t keep up with the demands of everyday life. Who wins in a cool battle? You do, misses.

I am sorry to hear about your frog. :( I’m sure she had a wonderful life. What wouldn’t have a wonderful life with such a glorious name?

Those mini pumpkin pies are precious. And they look delicious. And you’re right– you can still eat the whole pumpkin pie without having to throw on the elastic waist sweatpants– so hell yeah to that!

You’re so interesting. :) Love it!
    -M.

    LOVE the drawing.

  4. Alyssa says:

For some reason Akismet has been marking some non-spammy comments on my blog as spam and yours was one of them. So if you had problems commenting, I’m sorry! D:

Aww, I’m sorry to hear about Madame Mirabelle. :( At least she got to live in a beautiful menagerie, and I’m sure she had a happy life.

Mmmm, pumpkin pie! That’s one thing I haven’t yet had this fall. You’ve inspired me to make one soon!

That’s so awesome that you asked for a PS2 for your Bat Mitzvah! Gamer girls/tomboys FTW! :D

  5. Veronica says:

    Thank you dahling!

Aww I’m so sorry about the dog. :( Andy really wants to get a puppy, he sends me photos of the pet of the week at the rescue league haha

FFFound is so a fantastic site – it’s so inspirational!

  6. Jenny says:

Just stopping by to check out your blog. It’s very nifty.

I’m sorry about your doggy :( I used to have one too, but she got loose and we never saw her again. Being as stupid as she was, she prolly got hit by a car :(

But yea, thanks for havin’ me at your blog and hope you hop on by mine :D Have a great week.

    • Elizabeth says:

Madame was a froggie, actually, but she was a great frog! Sorry about your dog, even though it might have been a long time ago…
And thanks for the comment! I’ll def stop by your blog. :)

  7. Daniella says:

Nice way to hook the reader, ‘I actually am not allowed to talk about at the moment for legal reasons,’ definitely caught my attention, lol :D

And yes, a mini whole pie is genius! Unless it tasted bad, which I’ll just assume it was good. :) But pie is always good, so what am I saying?!

A Playstation beats jewelry any day. There’s only so much fun jewelry can do, a game can entertain you for months. It’s ok to be a nerd :D

  8. Angelica says:

Legal issues you’re not allowed to talk about? That sounds serious. Good that it’s concerning the paper and not yourself at least.

I love your drawing. It’s amazing! She looks kind of like a android. Really cool.

And a big thank you for the blog award! :D

  9. Alice says:

I’m so sorry about your dog :( but I’m glad you’ve managed to get away and have a good time amoung the badness.

I’ve never had pumpkin pie, I don’t know If I would like it as I can be fussy.

Haha I physically LOL’d at the Alice snippet. Very funny!!
